sundayfleamarketYES

what could be more appealing to me than a dirty, messy, early sunday afternoon flea market?? NOTHING. there have been few weekends that i've actually stayed in florence, and it just so happens that on those two weekends, there was the vintage sunday flea market, which only happens once a month. the first weekend i went, my sister and i were en route to the train station for her departure. she's not one to thrift so you can imagine the embarrassment i caused her when i bought a very comfy and fuzzy handmade red shawl. of course, i returned to the vintage flea market after i dropped her off at the train station, retail therapy was a must. my tears stopped when i found this bag (shown below!)

my second run-in with the vintage flea market was last sunday when i was supposed to meet brittney & her friend that was visiting from ireland at a coffee shoppe called Mama's Bakery (which incidentally sells american styled...everything. bagels, coffee, muffins-galore!) i got to Mama's and discovered that it's closed on sundays. ugh, well naturally! anyways, i wandered down via della chiesa and peeped down a cross street and saw that the vintage flea market was in town! this is my very explanation of "everything happens for a reason" ha ha so like an over eager kid, i ran through the market like a fiend. disappointedly enough, i didn't buy anything. and it's really only because i just couldn't decide on one thing. for the first time ever, i found myself questioning everything i picked up. i must be running out of money, because this only happens when i have a tighter budget. bummer. also, i think a lot of the reason why i kept on questioning myself is because gina's my right hand when it comes to vintage shopping and clearly she's not here! boo anyways, ho scattato tante foto, so you can at least see what it was like..

loved this army green semi-military jacket with design on sleeve..

yes, those are LVs hanging from the umbrella...

yes, they're real. and really cheap. i'm stupid for not buying.

translation (from top to bottom):
"rummage through attics, cellars, and old closets, vintage is the future of the past."
"vintage is the gym of creativity: for those who sell it and for those who buy it."
"out of style doesn't exist."
"vintage isn't born with an economic crisis, it is a lifestyle."

a wrack full of beautiful disgusting worn vintage sweaters, blazers, and blouses. only after uploading this picture did i realize there was an adorable poodle knit sweater, ah darn!!

brothers? i kept seeing them amongst all the different tents & couldn't wait to sneak a picture of them. so cute!

LOVE the lion necklace third from left!

gina, i was tempted to buy these to keep all our textbooks straight on our shelves (or in the back of our closets)

food

some wise food choices i've made during my time here...

schiacciata, salami, fontina formaggio, olio, sale, e pepe

una fragola! for some reason, i've yet to snap a picture of all the yummy raspberries i get to eat almost every single morning. but here is a pretty strawberry :)

chocolate pudding at the Perugia Chocolate Festival...best thing we ate all day

pizzzaaa, how italian of me.

un armadio italiano

a peep into my closet here in italy. i've created quite a large pile on top of the wardrobe because a) i've broken too many hangers with my heavy sweaters b) i have too many clothes c) and this is a problem because i have to share the it with my roommate..

overflowing...

shoes have made quite the sacrifice, being shoved down below! peeping out you can see my favorite shoes of all time, then the shoes that posted about last week, and my black boots.

quite a visual affect of my bags. i have no room for them anywhere so they lay piled up in a corner in my room. how sad. i can't wait to have space for them!

stripped dress & boots

i have a reason for my latest shoe purchase, i swear. last friday, brittney & i were going out for the day. i wore these stupid plain black flats, not expecting rain (though it was gloomy & i should have known better..). anyways, while out, not only did it start raining, but i put my left foot straight into a pool of murky Florentine rain water. "that's it, let's go, i'm buying new shoes today". and that's exactly the reason why i have these beauties on my feet. & unlike my other shoe purchases, i've worn them every single day since last friday, okay so that's really only six days, but it's more than i can say for other pairs...these booties are getting their use.

just perfect!

saturday was my roommate leanne's birthday so i wore the boots with a stripped dress from H&M tights socks an oversized men's button up my owl necklace.

then i took this cheesy myspace-esque picture in the funky IKEA mirror in my foyer. it might be nice to have a photographer follow me around to take pictures..

globes & maps

for some reason, i love globes and i love maps. i have no idea why. i think that it just come down to the fact that i think globes are really pretty. i think all the different continents are shaped so uniquely and to think that one day they were all maybe one big piece of land...?? wow. anyways, i've always wanted to own a globe made out of marble. with all the different countries being a different color. it will someday complete my very chic study that i will have in my apartment in new york city. one can dream...

anyways, i want one that looks something like this, but with a bigger and grander stand! mom & dad if you are reading this, it'd make a great christmas present ;)

ps, if you get a chance, listen to Something Corporate's "globes & maps"...it's fitting.

S.O.N.G.S.

still feeding off of the "recently added" playlist on my iTunes. usually i put the playlist on shuffle and let it work it's magic. it's proven to be a great method. here are some more songs i've discovered...

the book of right-on...joanna newsome
stop for a minute...keane
armour love...la roux
i remember...yeasayer
sprawl II (mountains beyond mountains)...arcadefire
good for great...matt&kim
(sickly obsessed with this one ^^, and the rest of their new CD for that matter...)

typical

i have a folder in my iPhoto named "creeper shots". basically, this is a folder where i upload pictures that i've taken that could be considered really creepy. ONLY because i don't exactly know the people in them. they're just people that i've seen on the street that i think are either, dressed cool, or have some cool aspect about them.

i took these two pictures one day last month when i was snacking on a panini in the piazza santo spirito. these pictures could be considered creeper shots but it's really just that i was SO SHOCKED by the stereotypical-ness of these four guys. so italian, i'd be surprised if anyone dared to try and argue this...

yes, you did in fact see correctly if you saw him wearing pink pants, all playing soccer, and the others eating gelato. typical
